In 2018, 39.700 properties were sold to foreign buyers, an increase of 78.4% over the past year. For this year, real estate market professionals are optimistic about the continuation of this trend with an estimate of 50.000 property sales.
Mehmet Ali Tanrıyakul said: "Last February the number of foreigners buying real estate increase to 92% compared to the previous year and this increase is expected to continue with new regulations to secure investments by foreign buyers against fraud."
4. Purchase Process
If you want to buy a property in Turkey, this process takes a very short time. Previously the property purchase process lasted between three or four months, but now, it takes only a week after the regulations of the Turkish Government changed the process. The taxation is about 3% of the value of the real estate and an annual housing tax ranging from 0.1% to 0.4%.
5. Turkish Citizenship
Since September 2018, Turkish Citizenship has been given directly to foreigners who buy at least 250.000 USD real estate in Turkey and who give a commitment to buy a property worth 250.000 USD from the notary.
